Behind Putin's Curtain. Encyclopedia of Russian Soul

The war in Ukraine affects everyone's life and leaves no one indifferent. There are many speculations and diverse opinions about its causes and consequences. Moscow-born writer Victor Erofeev reads from his most recent work “The Great Gopnik”, which will be published by Matthes & Seitz in 2023, and talks with publisher Vladimir Velminsky about the current situation, the background and the future. Annedore Dietze, who has been dealing with the themes of the body, physique, movement and physical threat for many years, presents large-format paintings and collages, in which she seeks new artistic solutions to depict the tension between transient physicality and vulnerability on the one hand, and the beauty of existence and the vitality of nature on the other.

Clara im Rückspiegel

Songs and chamber music by Clara Schumann form the musical basis, serve as associative material, on the basis of which the composers each developed their own pieces, were filmed in the process, and were also interviewed about it: What significance does Clara Schumann have for the three composers today? Does she still function as a reference? How can a contemporary female composer assert herself as a woman and artist in the still male-dominated world of music?

Zur Alten Schmiede

Theme year „Lebenskunst – Kulturland Brandenburg 2022“

Until its closure a few years ago, the restaurant "Zur Alten Schmiede" was an important meeting place between the villagers of Wiepersdorf and the guests of the castle. Run by local resident Elfriede Donath, who had worked at Schloss Wiepersdorf for many years, countless evenings were spent here celebrating and telling stories. After an exhibition in the studio house of Schloss Wiepersdorf, the tradition of mutual solidarity will be revived for one day in the restaurant "Zur Alten Schmiede" with a cultural and culinary program.

„Der Hahn kräht überall genauso.“

Experiences from South Bohemia with the upheavals in agriculture in 1950/60 and 1989/90 up to the present day

Lecture in German language with pictures by Dr. Alena Wagnerová (Brno-Saarbrücken) & Dr. Iris Berndt (Potsdam) and discussion

It was the resolution of the Information Bureau of the Communist Parties of June 23, 1948, which declared the collectivization of agriculture, following the Soviet model of collective farms, to be the obligatory line of march for all countries of the Eastern Bloc. For the traditional forms of life and work in the countryside, this decision from above meant a serious break; especially since the emerging tendencies to develop cooperatives from below were thus interrupted.

Sarah Duffy: The Aside

Live performance for the opening of "Wie die Vöglein so lieblich singen" at Jägerschere Gallery

Originally inspired by her on-going interest in stage fright and performance anxiety, Sarah Duffy's new performance, THE ASIDE, delves into the many contradictory feelings conjured up when we expose ourselves to the observation of others. Part magic act, part soliloquy, THE ASIDE, will break the human down into parts, before reassembling it again, just in time for the final act.
