From April 7 to 11, 2025, the Cultural Foundation Schloss Wiepersdorf welcomed alumnus Hunjoo Jung, who rehearsed with the ensemble Neu(sy) Misch(ief) for the world premiere of his monodrama "About Haan…," as part of a group residency.

The work was developed during Jung’s 2023 artist residency at Schloss Wiepersdorf and explores the Korean concept of "Haan" – a deeply internalized sorrow and a state of emotional melancholy. Through a bold fusion of music theatre, performance, storytelling, multimedia, and new technologies, Jung transforms this culturally specific emotion into an intense sensory experience for a Central European audience.

The program also featured music-theatrical works by Steven Kazuo Takasugi and Sarah Nemtsov, offering contrasting perspectives on emotional expression and the theme of "Haan" through Korean, German, Japanese, and American cultural lenses. These pieces expanded the theme by reflecting diverse emotional landscapes shaped by each composer’s cultural background and artistic language.

"About Haan…," premiered on April 12, 2025, as part of the 2025 Magazin Festival for Contemporary Music in Hanover.
