Schloss Wiepersdorf

Interdisciplinary conference on stereotypes in media, cultural philosophy, and literature

As part of a group fellowship, researchers from various disciplines met at Schloss Wiepersdorf from 27 to 29 September under the title “The Return of Resentment? Stereotypes in Media, Cultural Philosophy, and Literature.” The aim was to examine the strategies of right-wing ideological thought and argumentation patterns in current literary, cultural, and sociopolitical discourses. The focus was on the concept of resentment and its rising in popularity – a mindset based on prejudice and a sense of inferiority that often manifests as rejection of certain worldviews or social groups.

The conference was organized by Prof. Dr. Claudia Öhlschläger (Comparative Literature, Paderborn University), Dr. des. Tillmann Heise (German Studies, Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg/Paderborn University), and Prof. Dr. Marcel Lepper (German Studies, Leipzig University). Researchers from the Freie Universität Berlin, as well as the universities of Paderborn, Mannheim, Hamburg, and the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, participated in the event. A publication of the contributions is planned.
