VOCATIONS – REIMAGINING THE LIED
World-permieres and musical-literary salons in Berlin
In April 2023, artists in Wiepersdorf explored the question of how the European tradition of the art song can be reimagined from a multilingual and international perspective. Composers and poets from the Berlin and Hamburg scene created art songs for the Vocations series, whose premieres will take place on October 26 and December 21 at Heimathafen Neukölln. In two musical-literary salons on October 9 and November 16, the Berlin scenes of contemporary poetry and new music will offer space for transdisciplinary exchange and spontaneous artistic performance at the Akademie der Künste on Hanseatenweg.
A project by Haus für Poesie, in cooperation with JUNGE AKADEMIE, Akademie der Künste, Berlin, Cultural Foundation Schloss Wiepersdorf, Heimathafen Neukölln and Universität Hamburg

CINEMA AND SPIRITUALITY
Workshop with Maryam Palizban and Martin Treml
In September, a workshop on "Cinema and Spirituality" took place at Wiepersdorf Castle.
In the opening credits of Le Mépris (1963), Jean-Luc Godard quotes the film sociologist and critic André Bazin as saying that cinema substitutes for our gaze a world that fits our desire. It is the desire not only for physical and emotional fulfillment, but also for mental and spiritual fulfillment. Spirituality is not an offshoot of religion or a substitute for it, but a fulfilled protest against the fear of being cut off from reality.
Cinema as a place of regression and enlightenment was considered and discussed in Wiepersdorf with film examples from Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus and Iran.
