Restorers Grit Jehmlich and Oliver Max Wenske from Potsdam have restored three paintings, which are shown in Schloss Wiepersdorf in the studio of the painter Achim von Arnim-Bärwalde (1848-1891). The restauration was funded by the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz (‘German Foundation for Monument Protection’). Since the manor house and the museum are currently closed, please have a look at the results of the outstanding work of the restorers here.

 

ART IN A CONFLICTED WORLD

From September to November, the Cultural Foundation organizes the project Art in a Conflicted World that is funded by the German Foreign Office. The following six fellowship holders from Great Britain, Russia and the Ukraine deal with conflicts and upheavals in their artistic work: Ali Eisa and Sebastian Lloyd Rees (Lloyd Corporation), Alisa Ganieva, Sarah Dobai, Tanya Zaharchenko and Nikita Kadan. Due to the ongoing travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, they will work together on the project through digital means.

In the framework of the Virtual Residency Program 2020, the following new contributions by current Schloss Wiepersdorf fellows have been added to the online SHOWCASE:

Essay
Prolegomena on a History of Perceptology

Wiepersdorf fellow and art historian Tobias Teutenberg reflects on a new meta-discipline: “Historical Perceptology”. His text deals with the historical foundations of the meta-discipline in the European intellectual history of the modern age, describes possible areas of application and ensures operable methods. A contribution to a better understanding of current regimes of perception. (Essay in German language)

Polytemporality in Music

In the context of the Virtual Residency Program 2020, composer and music theorist Adrian Kleinlosen and composer Karin Wetzel talked about the phenomenon of ‘polytemporality’ in music.

Art historian and curator Julia Mullié spoke with visual artist Phillip Zach about his work, recurring themes, and his interest in exploring abstract concepts such as time and space and making them tangible by translating them into objects and materials.

WIEPERSDORF BETWEEN WAR AND PEACE

The video installation Wiepersdorf between War and Peace is on display until 1 November 2020, every Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 pm on the premises of Schloss Wiepersdorf. On the last day of the screening, Sunday, 1 November, film director Sebastian Eschenbach will be present and available for questions.

 

OPENING HOURS OF THE CAFÉ

The café in the Orangery opens every Saturday and Sunday until 1 November 2020, from 2 to 5 pm. The garden is open at all times.
