Writers, visual artists and composers as well as scholars with a research project on Romanticism or on questions relating to the previously divided Germany can apply until April 15, 2023 for a three-months residency at Schloss Wiepersdorf in 2024.

SPRING FESTIVAL, MAY 7

We invite you to visit our Spring Festival on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2 – 6 p.m. The museum, café and studio house will be opened. The program includes readings, performances, music, installations and open studios involving current and former Schloss Wiepersdorf fellows.

Among others you can experience a performance by VOLKSTATA named „Leben und Wirken der Heiligen Renate: Teil 1: DER QUARKEIMER“. You can also look forward to artworks by Nino Bulling, whose works were last exhibited at documenta fifteen. In the museum, Ingeborg Rauss, participant of a group fellowship in Wiepersdorf in 2022, will open the special exhibition SchwellenLeben (Threshold life), dedicated to forgotten female artists.

We are looking forward to seeing you at Schloss Wiepersdorf!

THE LEIPZIG BOOK FAIR PRIZE: NOMINEES

We congratulate former literary Schloss Wiepersdorf fellows who have been nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize 2023!

AWARD FOR ISABEL FARGO COLE

Former Schloss Wiepersdorf fellow Isabel Fargo Cole will receive the A und A Kulturstiftung Literature Award for her prose. The award ceremony will take place on April 12 in the "Red Salon" of the Volksbühne at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin. Congratulations!

FILM BY SYLKE ENDERS IN BERLIN

The motion picture “Pia Piano”, written and directed by our current fellow Sylke Enders, will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival "Achtung Berlin”. It will be shown on April 16 at 3:30 pm and on April 17 at 5:45 pm in the Babylon cinema.

It is about a fateful encounter in the forest that changes the lives of two young women forever. Twelve-year-old Diana abducts Pia into her world, rescues and enchants her, takes possession of her and won’t let her go.

JUSTINA REPEČKAITĖ’S MUSIC

Justina Repečkaitė is an artistic fellow in Wiepersdorf and currently composing a piece for children's choir and electronica, La Muë, on a text by Samuel-Auguste Tissot (1728-1797). This work is part of the Janus Program, a collaboration between the IRCAM Research Institute for Acoustics/Music and the Centre for Baroque Music in Versailles. The work is scheduled to be performed in 2024 in the Chapelle Royale at the Palace of Versailles.

Justina was born in Lithuania and completed her composition studies in Paris, where she lives and works. Her works are performed by numerous ensembles. The Sinfonietta Rīga performed her work Chartres (2012) at the Baltic Music Days 2023 in March. On April 28, you can hear her work Tapisserie (2015) at the Vienna Konzerthaus. It will be performed there by the Ensemble XXI Century. Here is an audio clip in which Justina talks about her music: „The Colors and Concepts of Justina Repečkaitė“.

CAFÉ, MUSEUM AND PARK

The Museum in the Castle and the Café in the Orangery of Wiepersdorf Castle are currently closed, but will reopen on May 7, 2023 on Sundays from 1.00 to 5.00 p.m. during the summer months.

The castle park can be visited all year round. Thanks to our open air “Kosmos Wiepersdorf”, you can walk a small tour on your own and get information via QR Codes.
