Małgorzata Sztremer: Beschwörung des Pfaus (Summoning the Peacock)

The exhibition features watercolours by former fine arts fellow Małgorzata Sztremer. In her paintings, different influences from fairy tales, myths and science, fragments from memories and pictorial elements from other art eras are interwoven in a kind of montage.

The figure of the peacock is at the centre of the works. Małgorzata Sztremer picks it out as a well-known symbol of art history, frees it from its stereotypical representations and reinterprets it. In a similar way, she takes a new look at other figures, such as the witch. The pictures invite us to look at the figures in a new way.
