NEMESISH - Exhibition by Aliaksandr Belsky
The exhibition "Nemesish" by Wiepersdorf fellow Aliaksandr Belsky at Haus der Statistik in Berlin runs from 13 December 2022 through 08 January 2023. On January 5, 2023 there will be an artist talk at Otto-Braun-Straße 70-72, 10178 Berlin (HdS, Block Otto) at 6:30 p.m. with Aliaksandr Belsky, Prof. Dr. Mateusz Kapustka and Anna Chistoserdova, moderated by Tatiana Bogacheva, curator and art historian.
Aliaksandr Belsky's exhibition "Nemesish" is a visual reconstruction of a mythological scenary unfolding in the contemporary world. The title refers to the divine intervention of the goddess Nemesis as a result of man's violation of the world order, and is also an ironic commentary by the artist on the futility and unjustifiability of hope for the restoration of justice. The project includes paintings and multimedia works, some of which were created with the support of Schloss Wiepersdorf as part of the "PerspAKTIV" project.
PerspAKTIV is a project supporting repressed Belarusian artists and the cultural scene in exile. A. Belsky, along with other cultural figures in Belarus, in the spring of 2022, was included in the censorship list compiled by the Ministry of Culture of Belarus as an "unreliable" artist, which forced him to leave the country. He now lives and works in Berlin.
The exhibition is organized with the financial support of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
