A quarter of a century after reunification, the cultural debate in the new Federal Republic of Germany is still characterized by asymmetrical experiences and perceptions. Yet not only the GDR, but also the old Federal Republic has come to its multifaceted end. However, while the reappraisal of the GDR is very far advanced, there is a lack of a comparably dense preoccupation with the old Federal Republic. Above all, it is time for a comparative examination of German-German transformation processes. Christoph Dieckmann and Ulf Erdmann Ziegler will read from their current books and talk about German-German cultural history as a "history of relationships".
